This is the last will and Testament of me James Stredwick of the Parish of Hellingly in the county of Sussex Carpenter

First I order and direct that alll such debts as I may owe at the time of my death my funeral expenses and the charges of proving this my will be paid and discharged by my executor hereinafter named from and out of my estate.

I give and bequeath unto my Grand daughter Catherine Hastings the wife of Richard Hastings of Alfriston? the sum of one hundred pounds

I give unto my Great Grand Son William Hastings son of the aforesaid Richard and Catherine Hastings the sum of Ten pounds also my Silver Watch

I give devise and bequeath unto my son Thomas Stredwick of Hailsham Victualler All that my Copyhold estate comprising a dwelling House Barn and other outbuildings with eight acres of land situate at West Street in Hellingly holden of the Lord of the Manor of Alciston and now in my own occupation To have and to hold to him the said Thomas Stredwick his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns for ever.

Also I give and bequeath unto my son the aforesaid Thomas Stredwick all the rest residue remainder or remainders of my personal estate of what nature kind or quality soever the the same may be found to consist of at the time of my decease or to which I may be entitled and all my estate and interest therein I give the whole and every part thereof unto him the said Thomas Stredwick for his use and benefit absolutely

Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Thomas Stredwick my son Sole Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and disallowing all former wills by me in anywise before made declaring this and this only to be my last will and testament

In witness whereof I the said James Stredwick have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty eighth day of May in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hgundred and Thirty five James Stredwick
