NOTE THIS IS A CODICIL TO EARLIER PROVED WILL

In the name of God Amen I Richard Stradwick of the city of Rochester in the county of Kent gentlemen being in good health the body and of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding praised be God make this my codicil to my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say)

Whereas I made and published my last will and testament in writing bearing date on or about the fifth day of May 1769 and therein and thereby did give and bequeath to my loving brother John Stradwick of Downe in the said county of Kent husbandman the sum of 10 pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid him within 3 months after my decease now I do hereby by this my codicil to my said will not only confirm the said legacy of 10 pounds to him but also do hereby give and bequeath to him by said brother John all my woolen apparel together with my hats shoes and boots to be delivered to him as soon as convenient after my decease and also one annuity or yearly rent charge of 5 pounds to be paid him yearly and every year during the term of his natural life except the 1st year after my decease by my executor and executrix in my said will named

And from and after the decease of him my said Brother I give and bequeath the same legacy of 5 pounds a year until his wife to be paid to her in like manner during the term of her natural life and I do hereby charge all my real estate with the payment thereof and I do hereby confirm my said will in all other respects and direct that this may be taken as a codicil and as part of my last will and testament in witness whereof I the said Richard Stradwick to this my codicil of my said will have hereunto set my hand and seal dated the seventh day of February in the 11th year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain France Ireland King Defender of the Ffaith and so forth in the year of our lord 1771

Richard Stradwick signed sealed published and declared by the said Richard Stradwick the testator as and for a codicil to his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and the presence of each other have subscribed our names in witness thereunto John Hunt Jn Ford Richd Brisbane

This Codicil was proved London the 29th day of January in the year of our lord 1772 before the right worshipful George Day Dr of laws master keeper or commissary of the prerogatory Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of William Stradwick the son of the deceased and one of the executor’s name in the will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn by commission duly to administer power reserved at making the like grant to Elizabeth Stradwick spinster the neice of the said deceased and the other executor named in the said will when she shall apply for the same
