The last will and Testament of me the underwritten William Strudwicke one of the procurators general Exercent of the Arches Court of Canterbury
Ffirst I humbly ask forgiveness of my creator for my manifold offences next of all Mankind in general whom I may either through necessity or negligence or howsoever have offended and hope their forgiveness
As to my worldly effects I give devise and bequeath all and every my personal estate of what nature or kind soever (real I have none as I know of) to my now kind and good wife Mary Strudwicke whose maiden name was South and make nominate and appoint her sole executrix not doubting her care of our three children Martha Elianor and Mary Witness my hand the six day of April one thousand seven hundred and forty nine W. Strudwicke
I make this as a Codicil to (or rather my will) in a very great agony of body and some indisposition or bad very bad affliction in mind by the loss of my above mentioned wife Mary who died the 29th of November last and was buried yesterday the 4th December instant at Edmonston MiddlX
I give and bequeath all and every my personal estate to my above named children Martha Elianor & Mary & appoint Mr John Booth as my Executor in trust for them 4th Dec 1749 W.Strudwicke “Humanum est erare et nescire”
19 Feb 1752 Appeared personally John Searle of the parish of Saint Gregory London Gentleman and Thomas Willington of the said parish gentleman and by virtue of the corporal Oaths take upon the holy evangelists to depose the truth severally depose as follows that they well know and were acquainted with William Strudwicke late of the said parish of St Gregory London and one of the procurators general exercent of the Arches Court of Canterbury deceased and with hiis manner and character of handwriting having often seen him write and recite and subscribe his name and having now carefully viewed and perused the paper writing hereto annexed purporting to be and contain the last will beginning thus ‘the last will and testament of me the underwritten William Strudwicke one of the procurators general Exercent of the Arches Court of Canterbury’ and ending thus ‘the six day of April one thousand seven hundred and forty nine ‘ and subscribed ‘W. Strudwicke’ and the said codicil beginning thus “I make this as a Codicil ‘and ending with the words ‘Humanum est erare et nescire’ wrote at the bottom of the said Codicil do verily and in their conscience believe the whole series of handwriting of the said will and codicil and the severall names W.Strudwicke and W.Strudwicke wrote at the foot or bottom of the said will and codicil as aforesaid to be all of the proper handwriting of the said deceased Jno Searle Thos Millington
Same day the said John Searle and Thomas Willington were sworn to the truth of the promisses before me Robert Chapman Surrogate
