In the name of God Amen I John Strudwick of Chiddingfold in the County of Surry Yeoman revoking all former wills by me made Doe hereby make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and forme following
And first I recomend my soule to Almighty God hopeing to be saved by the merits of my blessed saviour Jesus Christ and my body I committ to the Earth to be decently buried in Christian Buryall by me executor hereafter named
And as for my temporall Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I do ordaine give and dispose thereof as followeth Imprimus
I give and bequeath unto my sonn William Strudwick Ninety pounds of lawfull money of Greate Britaine
Item I give and bequeath unto my sonn Henry Strudwick One Hundred and twenty pounds of lawfull money of Greate Brittaine
Item I give and bequeath unto my sonn Richard Strudwick one Hundred and twenty pounds of lawfull money of Greate Brittaine
Item I give and bequeath unto my daughters Mary and Sarah Strudwick ffiftie pounds a piece of lawfull money of Greate Brittaine All which severall legacies above mentioned I will to be paid to the severall Legatees by my Executor at their severall ages of one and twenty yeares
And I will that my executor doe pay unto Joan my wife Ffourty shillings per annum a piece for the interest of my daughters portions untill the same shall become payable as aforesaid
And I will the smae be employed in the bringing up my said daughters
And in case any of my legatees shall happen to dye before they shall attaine to the age of one and twenty yeares that then I will that the Legacie or Legacies of him her or them so dying shall be paid and equally divided betweene the survivors anything herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding
And in case my personall estate shall prove deficient to pay my debts and legacies that then I give and devise unto such legatee or legatees to whom such default shall be made in payment of his her or their legacie or legacies and to his her or their heires
All my messuage or tenement ffarme and lande with the appurtenances called or known by the severall names of Anstrood or Hookhurst lying in Chiddingfold aforesaid containing by estimation Twenty Five acres (moreor less) To hold the said premises with the appurtenances unto such legatee or legatees to whom such default of payment shall be made as aforesaid his her or their heires untill he she or they shall out of the rents and profits of the premises be fully satisfied his her or their legacy or legacies with interest and damages
Item I give unto Joan my wife one hundred pounds of lawfull money of Greate Brittaine to be paid unto her by my executor within six months next after my decease
Item I give unto her my best bedd in the kitchen chamber with all things belonging to itt foure paire of sheetes marked IO and MS ansd one paire more marked IsI foure table cloathe marked IsI and two pillow coates marked IsI
Item I give unto my daughter Sarah my new chest one paire of Tirs sheetes marked IsI two pillow Coates and six napkins marked IsI
Item I give unto my son Thomas two paires of Sheetes two table cloaths and paire of pillow Coates and six napkins and one hand towel marked TS and two table cloaths marked TS
Item I give unto my sonn William two pairs of sheetes two table cloaths one paire of pillow coates six napkins and one hand towell marked WS and one paire of sheetes marked TS one chest in the little chamber and one bedd and bedsteed with all things belonging to them
Item i give unto my sonn Henry two paire of sheets two table cloaths one paire of pillow coates six napkins and one hand towell marked HS one pair of sheetes marked TS and chest in the end chamber one box one Bedd and bedsteed with all things belonging to them
Item I give unto my son Richard two paire of Sheets two table cloaths one paire of pillow coates ten napkins and one hand towell marked RS one paire of pillow coates and six napkins marked IS One chest one box one bedd and beddsteed in the Kitchen chamebr with all things belonging to them
All the rest of my lynnen I give unto all my Children to be equally divided amongst them
And lastly I make my Eldest Sonn Thomas Strudwick sole Executor of this my last will and testament to whome (after my just debts and legacies are paid and my ffunerall expenses discharged) I give and bequeathe the rest residue and remainder of my money goods cattle chattels and personall estate whatsoever desiring my brother Elder the Elder ? of Chiddingfold aforesaid and my uncle John Enticknap of the same place yeoman to be overseers of this my will and to assist my executor in the execution thereof
In witness whereof to this my last will and testament contained in two sheets of paper I have to each sheet sett my hand and seale the seaventeenth day of August in the twelfth yeare of the reigne of our sovereigne Lord King George over Greate Brittaine & Anno Dmd 1725 John Strudwick Signed sealed published and declared by the said John Strudwick the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who subscribed our names in his presence Elizabeth Money her mark Abraham Upfold Jos Smith
