Edwin's parents were Thomas Humphreys (cabinet maker) and Catherine Keys (supposedly of French decent).Edwin was a cabinet maker, soldier, carpenter, policeman, farmer and member of Salvation Army. He enlisted at the age of 19 years in the 11th Lancers at the Nottingham Barracks, an extra parochial place near London where banns of marriage were published to Mary Oldershaw.Typed note from B.D.M.
