In the name of God Amen I Henry Strudwicke the parishes and Katherine in the island Esquire being in sound mind memory and understanding do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say
Imprimus I will and desire taht all my just debts and funeral expenses may be fully paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently May be after my decease to the payment of which a subject charge and made liable for my estate real and personal in this island
Item idea of device and bequeath unto my dear wife Mary Strudwicke of Great Britain alll my lands messuages tenements leases for years or lives goods chattels and personal estate in the kingdom of Great Britain to hold her before and during the term of the natural life without impeachment of waste and from an immediately after her decease then I give and devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my loving daughter Mary Strudwicke and the areas of her body lawfully begotten or to the begotten share and share alike as tenants in common and his her or their heirs and assigns forever but in case my said daughter should happen to die under age and with out issue then I give and devise and bequeath my said estate and estates in England unto my said wife Mary had areas and assigns forever and as to my estates in this island I depose of the same in manner and form following that is saying I give and devise antiquities unto Christopher Hookel late ofthis island and now in England Esq Gilbert Matheson of the parish of Kingston merchant Edward Bolt of the parish of St Katherine Esquire and Jasper Brett of the same parish gentleman their heirs and assigns for and during the natural life of Sarah Walter Bolt a free Malatta the mother of my two reputed children named Edward Strudwicke and Theodesia Strudwicke one annuity or yearly rent charge of 120 pounds of the current money of this island to be issuing and payable out of all of every my lands tenements hereditaments and all and singular other my estate real and personal in this island upon trust nevertheless the daily said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett shall and do pay apply and dispose of said annuity or yearly rent charge of 120 pounds unto the said Sarah Walter Walter Bolt or unto such person or persons and for such uses and purposes as she said Sarah Walter Bolt shall from time to time by any note or notes in writing under her hand direct or a appoint
Item I give devise and bequeath said Christopher Hooke unto the said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett their heirs and assigns during the life of Ann Walter the mother of the said Sarah Walter Bolt one annuity or yearly rent charge of 20 pounds of current money of Jamaica to be yearly and every year issuing and payable out of all and every my lands tenements and hereditaments and all and singular other my estate real and personal in this island upon trust nevertheless the Vedas said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett Shall and do pay apply and dispose of the said annuity or yearly rent charge of 20 pounds unto the said Ann Walter or to such person or persons and for such uses and purposes and she the said Ann Walter shall by note or notes in writing under her hand direct or appoint
Item I give and devise and bequeath unto the said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett thier heirs and assigns for and during the life of my repeated natural son named Edward Strudwicke won annuity or yearly rent charge of 100 pounds of current money of the island to be issuing a payable out of all my lands tenements hereditaments and all and singular my estate real estate and personal in this island upon trust nevertheless that they the said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett doing shall pay apply and dispose of the same unto the said Edward Strudwicke and to and for his support maintenance and education until he attains the age of 18 years and from an immediately after his attaining the said age of 18 years that then they the said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett do and shall pay apply and dispose of the same to the said Edward Strudwicke or to such person or persons as he the said Edward Strudwicke by any note or notes in writing in his hand shall direct or appoint
Item I give device and bequeath unto the said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett their heirs and assigns for and during the life of my reputed natural daughter named Theodesia Strudwicke one annuity or year rent charge of 100 pounds of current money of this island to be issuing and payable out of all my lands tenements hereditaments and all and singular my estate real and personal in this island upon trust nevertheless that they the said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett two and each shall pay apply and dispose of the same unto the said Theodesia Strudwicke to and for her support maintenance and education until she shall obtain the age of 18 years and from and immediately after her attaining the said age of 18 years that then the said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett do and shall pay apply and dispose of the same unto the said Theodesia Strudwicke or to such person or persons and such uses and purposes as she said Theodesia Strudwicke by any note or notes in writing under her and shall direct or appoint
And it is my will and desire that the said two several annuities or yearly rent charges hereinbefore devised that the use and benefit of my said son and daughter shall not become payable until the year in our Lord 1768
And it is also my will and pleasure that the said several annuities shall be paid respectively by two equal half yearly payments that is to say the first payment of the said two several annuities to the said Sarah Walter Bolt and Ann Walter to the team and the May in six months next after my decease and the first payment of the said several annuities to my said son and daughter to begin to be made on the first day of June which will be in the year of our Lord 1768 aforesaid and my further will is that it shall and maybe lawful for my said trustees their heirs and assigns from time to time in case of nonpayment of the said sums or any of them or any part of them to raise the same by distress upon all or any part of the premises charged therein together with the costs and charges of such distress
Item all the rest residue and remainder of my estate real and personal whatsoever and where so ever I give and devise and bequeath unto my dear wife Mary Strudwicke and my loving daughter Mary Strudwicke for and during the terms of their lives to be equally held and enjoyed between share and share alike as tenants in common and from an immediately after the death of my said wife and daughter then I give and devise and bequeath the same unto the heirs of the body of my said daughter Mary lawfully begotten or to be begotten and his her or their heirs and assigns forever But in case it shall happen that my said daughter Mary shall depart this life without heirs of her body lawfully begotten as aforesaid then in such case I give devise and bequeath all and every part of my said residual estate unto my said natural son Edward Strudwicke and my said natural daughter Theodesia Strudwicke and the heirs of their body lawfully begotten or to be begotten to be equally divided between them share and share alike but in case of the death of my said natural son and daughter Edward and Theodesia Strudwicke without any heirs of them or either of them nor forgotten as aforesaid then I give devising bequeathed the same in every part thereof unto my own Right Heirs forever
And do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife Mary Strudwicke and my said daughter Mary Strudwicke and said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett executrixes and executors of this my last will and testament and also nominate constitute and appoint the said Christopher Hooke Gilbert Matheson Edward Bolt and Jasper Brett guardians of the persons and estate at my said repeated natural son daughter Edward Strudwicke and Theodesia Strudwicke and I do hereby revoke and make null and void all former wills by me heretofore made and declare this to contain my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of December in the year of our lord 1760 Henry Strudwicke
