In the name of God Amen I john strudwick of the parish of Petworth in the County of Sussex Miller being sick & weake in body but of good & pfect mind and memory thanks be given to Almighty God for the same calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye Doe make and ordayne and declare this my last will and testament in manner and forme following (that is to say)
First and principally above all other things I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty Gos my heavenly maker and to Jesus Christ his son my only saviour and redeemer hopeing to have free pardon and forgiveness of all my sins
And my body I will to the Earth to be decently buried in Christian Buriall at the discretion of my executor hereafter named and as for the disposing of such worldy estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I doe hereby give and dispose thereof as followeth (viz)
Imprimus I give and bequeath unto my sister Joane Upfold’s children twelve pence a peice soe to be paid them within three months after my decease by my executor
Also I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Grover daughter of Elizabeth Grover of Petworth in the County of Sussex widow twenty pounds soe to be paid her within one year next after my decease soe to be put out to interest by my overseer in trust hereafter named untill such times as the said Elizabeth Grover shall attaine to the age of eighteen years or day of marriage which of them shall first happen
Also I give and bequeath unto Henry Albery the son of Thomas Albery of Ebernhoe in the parish of Sussex yeoman xxx fifty pounds which is in Mr John xees hands xxx xxx (original obliterated)xxx xxx xxxx xx in part that ever xxx xxx bequeathed
The rest and residue of my goods & chattells whatsoever after my debts & legacies & funerall expenses are paid and discharged I give and bequeath them fully and wholly unto my dear and loving Brother William Strudwicke whom I do make my full and whole executor of this my last will and testament
and I nominate and appoint my trusty and well beloved friend Robert Driscoll of Petworth my overseer in trust of this my last will and testament
