In the name of god Amen the Eleaventh day of September in the yeare of our Lord God One Thousand six hundred Thirty foure I William Strudwicke eldest sonne of William Strudwicke late Citizen and Alderman of the City of Chichester in the County of Sussex deceased being sicke and weake in body but of perfect understanding and of good memory doe make my last will and Testament in forme following

ffirst I Comend my soule into the hands of the Almighty God my Creator trusting to be saved in and through the onely meritts of Jesus Christ my Redeemer and blessed savyour And my body to be decently buryed in the churchyard of Birdham

And in consideracon that I owe and am indebted unto my good frend Thomas Price of Birdham aforesaid in the sayd County yeoman for dyett apparrell washing lodging other necessaries and otherwise more than my personall estate and lands also (in the parrish of Earnly in the said County) are worth I doe by this my will give and bequeathe unto the sayd Thomas Price all my free lands with the appurtenances lying and being in the parrish of Earnly aforesayd To have and to hold unto him the sayd Thomas Price his heires and assignes for ever

Item in regard that I stand bound and ingaged for divers debts owing by my late ffather at the tyme of his death which are yett unpayd I doe hereby give and bequeathe unto the sayd Thomas Price all my messuages lands and Tenements with the appurtenances and the revercon and (blot) remaynder and remaynders thereof and all my estate which I have or may have of in or to the same situate lying and being in the parrishes of Kirdford and Greene or other of them To have and to hold unto the sayd Thomas Price his heires and assignes for ever to the end and purpose that the sayd Thomas Price his heires and assignes doe pay all such debts and money as I am ingaged and bound by bond to pay to any person or persons whatsoever yf the sayd lands and Tenements in Kirdford and Greene being sold at the utmost value will amount thereunto

And my will and meaning is that the sayd Thomas Price or his heires and assignes shall pay the sayd debts for which I soe stand bound and ingaged within one yeare next after hee or they shall have the (blot) possession of the sayd lands and Tenements with the appurtenances in Kirdford and Greene aforesayd

Item my will and meaning (blots) shillings bee bestowed by my Executor in gloves by hym to be given to some of my frends in a remembrance of me

Item I doe hereby make and ordayne the said Thomas Price Executor of this my will And my frends John Carpenter and Edward Cleverly overseers of the same will to which twoe I give eight shillings a peece In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written 1634 William Strudwicke
