In the name of God Amen I Henry Strudwick of Westgreensted in the County of Sussex yeoman being sicke in body but of sound and peperfect memory thanks bee to God doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament in manner & forme following

Ffirst I give & bequeath my soule into the hands of All mighty God and my body to be buryed in Christian buriell at the discretion of my executor hereafter named

Item I give to the high church of Chichester viij S

Item I give & bequeath to my grandson Henry Strudwicke the sole and only son of Henry Strudwicke my son the sum of one hundred pounds to bee paid by my executor hereafter named into the hands of William Stenning als Cooper of Wisbergh yeoman and Christopher Coles of Stopham in the said County Yeoman within one month after my decease to this intent and purpose

- that they employ dispose or put out to interest the said 100 pounds before bequeathed to any person or persons that they the said William Stenning als Cooper and Christopher Coles shall think fitt (except it go to my aforesaid son Henry) untill the said Henry my grandson shall accomplish the age of twenty one years and then to pay the said 100 pounds to the said Henry Strudwicke my grandson so giving them a lawfull discharge for the said Summe And that all such interest as the said William and Christopher shall receive for the use of the said 100 pounds shall be yearly paid by them to my sayd son Henry or to such person or persons as shall have the xxx and bringing up of the said Henry my grandson towards his schooling and bringing up untill he shall accomplish the age of sixteene years and after he shall accomplish the age of sixteene years then to be xxxx in the hands of the aforesaid William and Christopher for the use of my said Grandson untill he shall accomplish the age of 21 years aforesaid

And if the said Henry Strudwicke my grandson shall happen to dy before he shall accomplish the age of 21 then I give and bequeath the said 100 pounds to the next son of my said son Henry then living to be paid as soon as he shall accomplish the age of 21 years and untill then remaine in the hands of the said William Stenning and Christopher Coles and all such interest as they shall receive for the use of the said 100 pounds shall be paid to my said son Henry the father to go towards the education and bringing up of my grandson

And if there be no such next son then living at the death of Henry my grandson then I give and bequaeth fifty pounds being one moyety of the said 100 pounds to my granddaughter Anne Strudwicke to be paid to her when she accomplish the age of twentyone years or day of marriage and in the mean time to remaine in the hands of the said william Stenning and Christopher Coles for her use and benefit

Item I give and bequeath to my aforesaid Granddaughter Anne Strudwicke fifty pounds to be paid by my executor hereafter named into the hands of the aforesaid William Stenning and Christopher Coles to this intent and purpose

- that they employ dispose or put out to interest the said fifty pounds to whom soever they think fit except it go to my executor hereafter mentioned until the said Anne shall accomplish the age of 21 years or the day of her marriage whichever shall first happen after my decease and that they pay all such monyes as that they shall receive for the interest or use of the said fifty pounds unto Henry Strudwicke her father and my son or to such person as shall have the bringing up of the child untill she shall accomplish the age of 16 years or day of marriage which shall first happen apon my decease and afterwards the said interest to remaine in the hands of the said William Stenning and Christopher Coles untill she accomplish the age of 21 years or day of marriage whichever shall first happen and then to be paid to her in full the principal

Item I give to my aforesaid granddaughter Anne Strudwicke two paire of fine sheets one fine table cloth and halfe a dozen of napkins together with the chest and desk which now stand in my chamber

item I give to Katherine Strudwicke my niece 20 shillings to be paid to her the day of marriage

Item I give to each one of my grandchildren 1 shilling if it be lawfully demanded within twelve months after my decease

Item I give to the poore of Westgreensted 10 pence

Item I give to the poore of Ashurst 5 pence

Item I give to William Leeds, Widdow Vinson, Goodwife Howting, Goodwife Hitckiss and Jane Herriot of Stopham 21 pence a piece to be paid them within one month after my decease

Item I give to Widdow Burley of Wisbergh 12 pence

And as for all the rest of my goods not bequeathed and disposed of my debts legacies and funerall charges satisfied I will give and bequeath to my sonne Henry Strudwicke whome I make executor of this my last will and testament

I entreat William Stenning als Cooper and Christopher Coles aforesaid to be overseers of this my last will and testament and doe give them towards their paines besides all their charges and expenses borne allowd and paid them the summe of 2 shillings 6 pence a peice
