1638  Chichester wills Vol 20 Page 22 William Strudwick of Kirdford

In the name of god amen the twelfth day of June in the yeare of our Lord 1638 I William Strudwicke of Hylesgreene in the parish of Kerdford in the County of Sussex yeoman being sicke in body but of perfect memory praise bee to god doe make and ordayne this my last will & testament in manner and forme following That is to say

ffirst I give & bequeath my soule unto Almight god my maker And my body to the Earth from whence it was & to bee buryed in the Church yard of the parish Church of Kerdford aforesayd

And next unto this I give & bequeath my goods and chattells in manner & forme following That is to say

Item I give unto the high Church of Chichester twelve pence,

Item I give & bequeath unto Katherine my wife my best bedd & all things belonging to the same And all such goods as weare the sayd Katherines 

Item my will is that Katherine my wife shalbee payd three pounds or else have the use of the redd hagg from Henry Strudwicke my sonne  

Item I give and bequeath unto William Strudwicke my second sonne my silver boule & mine silver spoones one bedd (blot) hath at Oxford & that which belongeth to the same

and I give unto William Strudwicke my sonne one hundred pounds which is due from Henry Strudwicke from Crouchland

Item I give & bequeath unto Mary Strudwike my Grandchild one bedd & one boulster Item my will & meaning is That all the residue of my goods of what nature soever shalbee equally devided into three part the one part unto Katherine my wife the second part William my second sonne & the third to be equally devided amongst the Children of my sonne Henry Strudwicke who I do make & ordayne my sole Executor

Item I give & bequeth unto Henry Strudwicke of Bealehouse my godson Tenn shillings

Item I give unto Henry Strudwicke of Crouchland the younger my godson tenn shillings

Item I give unto William Strudwicke sonne of Nicholas Strudwicke tenn shillings

to Mary Beale six shillings

to the poore of the sayd parish h- quarter of a yeare four pounds to be payd at my sayd Executor

And I doe ? Coussines Henry Strudwicke of Cruchland & Roberte Strudwicke of Loxwood to bee my sole Overseers of this my last will & testamnt & either their paines with their charges ? six shillings apeece
